What Would You Do?

What Would You Do? If you had it to do over again??

would that really be how you'd behave?
would that honestly be what you would say?
would you know what step to take next?
would life be so perplexed?
would you be grateful for what you have?
would you give me the shirt off your back?
would you feel for those with less?
would you gladly take second best?
would you hold on to a sting of hope?
would you reach the end of your rope?
would possessions mean anything?
would family be to what you would cling?
would you sacrifice all you had?
would giving of yourself really be all that bad?
would you go back on what you said?
would you lead or be led?

Giving it all up...

He gave up his foot rubs to his sweet baby girl,
The one that was born with pretty dark curls.
She wrapped him around so tight and so snug,
to her soft little heart and the 'Big Girl Hug.'

He gave up the 'Old Days' to enjoy his baby girl.
Daddy's always here in this child's world,
To protect her from noises and kill the spiders,
all the while trying to patiently guide her...

Up to the heavens is where he sends his thanks,
For this precious little one that can "keep him straight."
His vows to this girl are ones that can't be broken,
having sacrificed more than will ever be spoken...

He gave in to the Lord for the blessing He sent,
She made his life full and his big heart content.
The one little person that can bring an instant smile,
Giving it all up at 50, but it was worth his while...

Aron's Birthday

Poetry has always been a part of my life...
It's a way of expressing myself through writing...

Aron's Birthday

Today is my brother's birthday...
So, it IS a day to reminisce.
For had Aron never been born,
we would have missed the dance.

He brought laughter and jokes,
unlike any ever told...
Aron made Christmas...FUN!
He dared to act so bold.

The sibling bond was tight...
He trusted me unlike any other...
I was Aron's big sister
AND like a sister-mother.

He was MY best friend,
all while growing-up...
We had each other's backs,
We made each other tough...

He was my Big Little brother,
'Tho we lost touch from time to time...
Our hearts stayed close and love stayed deep,
We shared moments, from time to time.

Now, today you were born,
October the 9th, nineteen 78...
Even tho you aren't here to share it with us,
I think we should still eat cake =)
